Desmond Harrington plays the minor role of Jack Bass, the brother of Chuck's deceased father, Bart Bass in the TV series Gossip Girl. Desmond Harrington was born in Georgia but at age 3 their family moved to The Bronx, the place of his mother. His college education was supposedly at Manhattan College but was short-lived only after 6 weeks of college education attendance. Instead of pursuing a college diploma he decided to pursue an acting profession by attending acting classes under the guidance of John Strasberg. To pay for his acting classes, he worked at a brokerage firm, in a deli outlet, in a construction firm, also in a landscaping outfit and lastly as a bartender. Desmond Harrington first starred as Aulon in The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc and later progressed to major roles in films like The Hole, Wrong Turn and Ghost Ship. He also played Jesse Keys, an alien abductee in Taken, a Steven Spielberg film. In the later part of 2008, Desmond Harrington joined Showtime's Dexter TV series.
